The story takes place in northern France, giving Poirot a hostile competitor from the Paris Sûreté. Poirot's long memory for past or similar crimes proves useful in resolving the crimes. The book is notable for a subplot in which Hastings falls in love, a development "greatly desired on Agatha's part... parcelling off Hastings to wedded bliss in the Argentine."
Mr Oliver's voice resembles John Hurt, a nice change from the Fraser ones. Not that I don't like the Fraser narration, it's just that it's hard to get away from picturing the TV series, (and some of Mr Fraser's character voices sound very similar).
Recording is taken from audio cassette, (remember those!), and sounds really good, with the exception of a couple of small sections, where is sounds like the tape has been damaged, but they are very small sections.
